I’m just frustrated and disappointed to not be able to use Firefox on iOS given that it’s objectively one of the worst browsers in terms of basic functionality. This is absolutely not an attack on the people who are no doubt trying their best to make a good product with the resources they’re given by Mozilla. As much as I hate to admit it, Brave has shown us that it’s possible to make Firefox iOS into one of the best browsers on the platform, full stop. It’s demonstrably clear that it’s possible to make a good browser despite Apple’s restrictions (which I’m in no way excusing!). OS version: iOS 9.3+ Requires free space: 90.65 Mb. Being forked from Firefox iOS, they’ve fixed these issues and are constantly adding useful features (aside from the aforementioned cryptoshit) to fill the gap left by the lack of extensions on iOS. Firefox web browser - this browser has already been recognized by many users. It’s to the point where even Brave, cryptoshit and all, is a far more appealing browser.

There’s absolutely no option to block ads (no, strict protection still lets some through) despite Firefox being lauded for this capability on desktop. The keyboard pops up on every new tab, no option to disable this opinionated behavior. Searching through history breaks the ability to delete entries. Moving tabs trades the rounded edges with jagged, miscolored corners. However, as with all other iOS web browsers, the iOS version uses the WebKit layout engine instead of Gecko due to platform requirements. Bugs that were present in at least two-year-old builds of Firefox iOS (confirmed by using WebXR Viewer, the last update being two years ago and basing it on the current build of Firefox then) and new annoyances introduced since. But the state of the iOS browser is honestly depressing.
